Florida Senator David Jones Files Bill SB392 to regulate Commercial Parasailing that mandates strict operating guidelines including the use of  passenger evacuation system.

ORLANDO, FL -  After months of working with both House, Senate and the Florida Wildlife Commission team on the original SB 392 draft,  a unanimous agreement was reached on the final safety language definitions of “Support System” and “Quick Release” as drafted by the FWC and approved by both House, Senate members and their Legal department prior to any amendments based on anti-safety organizations misinformation.

Suggested Changes to Definitions 327.02 as follows:

(43) “Support system” means a device used to tether, connect, or otherwise suspend a person or person(s) under the canopy.

(44) “Quick release” means a device that enables the tethered or connected person or person(s) to quickly release or remove themselves from their ‘support system’.

Language for under 327.375 (3)(d)

2.  All riders are equipped with a support system that includes a harness with a quick release or the support system is a “gondola style” that allows the rider to quickly self evacuate during an emergency.

Renumber 2-3 as 3-4

The harness/tow bar quick release device and the “gondola style” support system each will enable the parasail passengers to safely evacuate during an emergency water landing in high winds.

This language was included in the first draft of SB 392 bill filed by Senator Jones and sponsored by the FL House
