1989 Third Generation Parasail Tow Bar With a serious of injuries and deaths being linked to the double harness, manufacturers introduced a modified passenger tow bar based on McCullohs 1971 and 1973 design. The new “modern day” passenger tow bar or “tandem bar” system allowed operators to connect multiple parasailors side-by-side to mimic the gondola without the safety features. The passenger tow bar design is popular amoung operators who wanted to fly multiple parasailors without investing into a larger parasail vessel and/or paying royalties associated with the patented Gondola.
