CONSUMER SAFETY ALERTS 01- A licensed commercial parasail operator does not ensure that you are under the supervision of a responsible operator.  Making sure that the boat and equipment are well maintianed and that they operate from an established location is a good start.  Avoid paying cash for your ride, and look carefully at your receipt to make certain that it matches the operations name. 02- Parasail only with established business operators who are insured by a State licensed Agencies. Avoid operators who use offshore insurance companies. If you are injured you may have difficulty being reimbursed.  03- Avoid parasailing in bad weather and/or high winds.  High winds increase the likelihood of problems in case of an emergency water landing.  Never fly in rain, fog or an approaching storm as lightning presents a hazard. Remember you are the passenger; when in doubt say, ‘No Thank You!’ 04- Although some operators claim that you can parasail at virtually any age. This is not always true. There are some basic physical and mental skills required for parasailing and is NOT GENERALLY RECOMMENDED for persons under 16 years of age. 05- Make certain that you get adequate safety briefing prior to your flight. This briefing must include 1) a description of the equipment, the parasail activity, inherent risks. 2) safety precautions while underway. 3) the proper use of hand signals. 4) a detailed water survival techniques in the event of a emergency water landing, especially in high winds. 06-If using a body harness support system and not the Gondola, make certain that the operator provides body position techniques for unexpected high speed flight deck landings.  This could prevent injuries. 07- We do not recommend that anyone participant if you are afraid of heights or for any other reason that makes you hesitant. This to could affect you ability to perform basic tasked in the event of an emergency. 08- The maximum recommended altitude is 500 feet in open ocean and 300 feet over small lakes, bays or sounds.  09- Read the release form carefully before you sign it. Know what you are signing. 10- It is important that you educate yourself about parasailing before you participate in it.
